Pourtant, trois campagnes militaires, entreprises entre\u00a01620 et\u00a01622, permirent au jeune roi de France d\u2019imposer seul son autorit\u00e9 \u00e0 la nation. La bataille de Ri\u00e9 appara\u00eetra bien avant le si\u00e8ge de La Rochelle, comme l\u2019un des moments forts des guerres protestantes. They will all be held at the Ferme de la Cailleti\u00e8re, with the first scheduled for Saturday 20 January. <strong>\u00ab\u00a0We will be welcoming Patrick Avrillas for the first time, author of two books on Louis XIII: <em>Louis XIII et la bataille de Ri\u00e9 <\/em>(Geste \u00e9ditions 2013) and<em>\u00a0Louis XIII, un roi de guerre \u00e0 la conqu\u00eate du pouvoir, 1620-1622\u00a0<\/em>(La Geste, 2019)\u00a0\u00ab\u00a0,<\/strong>\u00a0announces\u00a0Erick Croiz\u00e9, president of the Historical Society.<\/h5>\n<h5>\u00a0<\/h5>\n<h5>This lecture will focus on \u00ab\u00a0the victor of the Battle of Riez, but from the perspective of the painter Rubens, whereas traditional historiography associates Louis XIII with the figure of Richelieu. However, three military campaigns, undertaken between 1620 and 1622, enabled the young King of France to impose his authority on the nation alone. The Battle of Riez appeared well before the siege of La Rochelle as one of the highlights of the Protestant Wars.
