Dans le cadre de l’exposition et de la Fête Nationale des États-Unis d’Amérique
Notre association édite une nouvelle publication, emblématique de la grande histoire de Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez
Il y a cent ans, à la suite du débarquement du corps expéditionnaire à Saint-Nazaire, les américains recherchent des terrains. Ils doivent créer une aire d’aviation et une école d’artillerie aérienne. Un an plus tard naît le camp de Champ-Gaillard, sur un terrain de 200 à 300 hectares. Destiné à la formation des pilotes de poursuite et des artilleurs aériens. Ils se forment aussi au maniement des mitrailleuses embarquées à bord des biplans.

Our association is publishing a new publication, emblematic of the great history of Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez.
A hundred years ago, following the landing of the expeditionary force in Saint-Nazaire, the Americans were looking for land. They needed to set up an airfield and an air artillery school. A year later, the Champ-Gaillard camp was established on a 200- to 300-hectare site. It was intended for the training of fighter pilots and air gunners. They were also trained in the use of machine guns mounted on biplanes.
